I've been working in IT for 14 years, since 2012. I started on enterprise help desks at UnitedHealth Group, supporting about 100,000 users, and at HealthEast, both under strict HIPAA policies. From there I moved into systems work at Smarte Carte and Sharetec Systems (Windows Server, Exchange and Office 365, VMware, Hyper-V, Veeam backups), then spent six-plus years as the sole network administrator for a mid-size company, bringing their IT in-house from an outside provider.
Security is built into everything I do. I set up and monitor endpoint protection, handle patching and remote management, lock down firewalls and Wi-Fi with intrusion prevention and web filtering, and track newly exploited vulnerabilities so the fixes that matter get done first. I've supported SOC 2 work for banking clients, led a ransomware recovery for a 100-employee manufacturer, and performed NIST-based security assessments. That goes for families and small offices alike.
I also build software. I develop custom business web apps in Python (Flask and Django) with PostgreSQL: ticketing and help desk systems, approval workflows, inventory and reporting dashboards. That includes the ticketing system NexGen runs on. I automate the routine work too, with PowerShell, Python and AI-assisted tools, so nothing falls through the cracks and you get faster answers.
Today I run NexGen Tech Support for homes and small businesses in Venice, Englewood and Port Charlotte, plus Sarasota, Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch. I'm an ITT Tech graduate (3.54 GPA), I come to you, I explain things in plain English, and every job starts with a free quote. This is my community too, and I take that personally.
